Friends of Vyners Langdale 10 Challenge
Please click the buttons below to see the presentation from the meeting of 29th March and details of the training walks.
Following on from the success of the 3 Peaks Challenge in 2015, which raised an amazing £26k and funded the purchase of 50 Chrome books for the school, Friends of Vyners are organising another sponsored challenge event to take place in 2019.
The event will take place on the weekend of 5th - 7th July 2019, one day of walking and two nights set in the stunning scenery of the Langdale Valley in the Lake District.
It is intended that this event should be as inclusive as possible to all members of the school; parents, teachers and pupils. With this in mind we have chosen two separate routes to challenge participants who have differing levels of fitness.
OPTION 1: Langdale – 10 Peaks
The circuit of the peaks in Langdale Valley is a challenging one day walk, with stunning views on a clear day. It is comparable to the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in height gained (a little more) and although shorter, the nature of the terrain and the rough nature of the paths make this a similar challenge. Start and finish at the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel.
All the fells are classed as Wainwrights and all are over 2,000 ft.
Approx. 15 miles total distance and 6000 ft. of ascent – fells in order of ascent:

We hope that this will be a fun event for groups of friends and families and will raise some much needed funds to support your children in their education.
